The visual inspection lab was completed in room 3 and room 4. The purpose of this experiment is to ensure that the components in an x-ray room are present and functioning according to accepted parameters. Below is a chart containing all the information about the visual inspections performed. Some of the items looked at include, overhead tube crane movement, bucky tray locks, and technique charts. To be approved from the standards in HARP (1990), SC35 (2008) and Papp (2011), the overhead tube crane movement needed to move without obstruction. The bucky, table and cassette locks needed to be functioning properly to ensure the equipment stays in place throughout examinations. Last but not least, technique charts need to be present for the technologists. Out of the 29 visual inspections everything passed the standards in each of the rooms from HARP (1990), SC35 (2008) and/or Papp (2011). Following the inspections, the x-ray room can be used if it passed the tests.
To carry out the inspection process, one of the group members listed off the items along with what the requirements were. The other students checked the room for the items and collectively decided whether or not it passed or failed. The information gathered was written into the chart below for future reference. |
